This review is going to be on an online cloud service called Got Backup. What is Got Backup? Is it a scam or legit opportunity? Is it worth for you to try it or who is this opportunity really for? These are some of the questions that will be targeted in this review.
Name: Got Backup
Owner: Joel Therien’s Global Virtual Opportunities Inc. (GVO)
Price: $1 (starting)
Who is it for: People who want to make money through Network Marketing(MLM)
Got Backup Company Overview
Before I go on to the review itself, I just wanted to start by saying that I am not in any way affiliated with Got Backup and thus, this will be a completely unbiased review of the Got Backup services and more importantly, the Got Backup reseller program.
Got Backup was launched in 2014 under the company of Global Virtual Opportunities Inc. GVO is owned by Joel Therien, so we can confidently say that Got Backup is also owned by Joel Therien. Joel has been around for quite awhile already, to be specific, he started his online marketing and been involved in MLM since 1997.
He has launched a couple of products till to date, which includes HostThenProfit, 7 Minute Workout and his latest one is Pure Leverage. Pure Leverage website is still up and running but hasn’t been as active as when it was initially launched.
Alright, since we have already looked into details about the company and who owns and runs it, let’s now move on with the review.
Since this is a cloud service company, there are not many products you can choose from, except the different backup plans. And like every other MLM business, they also offer a compensation plan which I believe most of you are looking forward to.
Who is Got Backup for?
Obviously, Got Backup is for anyone who wants has important documents or files in their mobile device or computer and want to back them up in case anything goes wrong.
But hey, this review is geared towards the making money opportunity instead of the product itself so I will focus more on their reseller opportunity.
Got Backup reseller program would have captured the attention of people who are interested in working from home or simply want to earn extra income so they can spend more. That’s not wrong. It’s actually good that you are willing to look for opportunities online to supplement more income. But, one thing you should need to look into is the business model, before you jump into it with both your feet.
Got Backup operates like many other MLM companies where your earning will depend greatly on getting people to purchase their services and also recruiting new affiliates under your downline. Without constantly hitting these two targets, you can forget about earning a monthly income with them.
However, since there aren’t any physical products to promote, the approach you are going to have to take to get people will be slightly different. You will be required to market the company online through blogs, paid ads, posting on forums or social media. If you are someone who doesn’t have any knowledge about this, you are destined to fail right off the bat.
Of course, you can still promote through word of mouth with people you know, but that isn’t going to provide you with sustainable income. You need to hit a certain quota every month if you are expecting to get at least a few thousands of dollars a month.
Many of us fail to realise that MLM is not for everyone. Only a few people go on to really succeed in this. The rest of them will eventually through in the towel once they realise that it is not as easy as they thought initially.
The Got Backup Product.
I believe by now you would already know that Got Backup is a cloud backup service provider.
Now, let’s take a look at their different plans…
(1) Personal Backup
- Unlimited backup for 1 Computer or device
- $1 and then $7.99 or $8.99 a month
(2) Family Plan
- Unlimited backup for 5 Computer or devices
- $1 and then $12.99 or $14.99 a month
(3) Backup & Share
- Unlimited backup for 1 Computer or device
- $1 and then $11.99 or $13.99 a month
- 500 GB of data syncing with other devices
- Extra 100 GB sync data = $6
By visual comparison, you could see that the annual service is much cheaper than the monthly service.
- Sync multiple computers
- No file type restriction
- Stream music, movies
- Multiple data centres
- File versioning
- Restore deleted files
- 24/7 support
- 30-day money back guarantee
Got Backup Compensation Plan
The compensation plan here is much easier to understand than most of the MLM companies I have come across. I will do briefly go through their compensation plan now.
The above image is a snippet I took from their reseller video. As you can see it stated, “licensed reseller, start today for $1.00”.
So is it true, can you become a reseller for just that amount. Unfortunately not, just like every other MLM out there you will still be required to purchase their service before you can become a licensed reseller. The $1.00 is just shown to entice you to quickly get started. In reality, you will still have to pay the full price.
To get Started
You will able to only promote the service in which you are a part of. So let’s say, you choose the yearly personal plan. Hence, you will only be able to promote the personal plan and earn commissions from it.
- Personal plan – $1 + $7.99 or $8.99 per month
- Family Plan – $1 + $12.99 or $14.99 per month
- Back & Share Plan – $1 + $11.99 or $12.99 per month
How does it work?
- Their compensation plan has unlimited frontline(direct referrals) and unlimited powerline(depth). Basically, there is no limit to how many referrals you could bring in or have many referrals your frontline can bring in.
- If you have a very strong team, you could definitely earn a good income with this compensation plan. However, you should take note that it is always easier said than done. So don’t expect to make loads of cash without putting in any effort.
- One the first month you will make full 100% commissions from all your direct referrals.
- On subsequent months, you make 50% direct referral subscription and a 50% matching bonus income of their total income.
E.g. of how your second month and after will look like,
One thing I am not too convinced about is their 100% commissions policy. If it works like what they mentioned, you will receive the entire subscription fee for the particular person. But seriously, it seems too good to be true.
If they pay out 100% commissions, then what has it got to benefit Got Backup company for providing these services. They will probably go broke if they invest money on their services and pay out full commissions to all their affiliates.
Personally, I feel that there is some hidden fee somewhere which has not been mentioned openly.
Summary of Pros Vs Cons
- Not to expensive to get started. If you take the most expensive plan annually, you will only be required to spend slightly over $150.
- Decent compensation plan
- Good Product
- Fairly easy to promote, if you have a proper strategy and understanding of online marketing
- Quite new company
- Owner is well recognised, have lots of expertise in this area
- Not many products to promote
- Needs understanding of online marketing to have a chance to succeed
- Requires you to constantly recruit people under your downline
- Feels as if, they are not completely honest about their compensation plan
- Products seem overpriced, there are much cheaper services available online
- Simply because it’s MLM!
My Final thoughts.
Just as I thought, Got Backup is offering their services for a much higher price then compared to other cloud services companies I found online. That is what makes up an MLM company, they market below average or average products for a very high price so accommodate profits for both the affiliates and the company itself.
Personally, I am never a big fan of MLM, firstly, because of how it operates and secondly because I have failed myself. I have been involved in Herbalife a couple of years back and didn’t make any profits, in fact, I went on a loss because I had to consume some of my own products.
I know most of you will be thinking to yourself, just because you failed doesn’t mean everyone will fail.
That’s correct. And that wasn’t my intention to share with my experience. I’m not the only one who failed but a majority of the people who have participated in any MLM business opportunities have thrown in the white flag simply because recruiting people is not an easy job.
There is only a limit to how much you can sell and promote within your own friends and family members. After that, you will still have to come out and look for strangers to buy your product. And this is where things get tough and where most people start to lose hope and eventually quit.
Verdict: Legit, but Not Recommended
People often ask me, what’s my best recommendation to working from home or making money online. My answer has been always Affiliate Marketing. As an Affiliate Marketer, you don’t need to recruit anyone, sell your own products, worry about customer support and a bunch more and the best part is cost friendly to get started with.
Alright, I have come to the end of my review on Got Backup. I hope you now have a better understanding for this opportunity and thus now able to make a much better decision going forward. I personally hope you can create yourself a successful work from home business and do the things you like. Good luck and all the best 🙂
