Instead of asking a question on how to make money with football betting, you should be first asking whether can YOU make money with football betting. I know a lot of people bet for past time while there are quite a handful of people who do bet full time. In other words, their income is solely dependent on their betting.
Honestly, a few years back I had the very same mindset, to make a good living by simply betting. Unfortunately, I ended up losing a great amount of money and most importantly stressed my body. But fast-forward 2016, several things have changed including my thinking.
And in this post, I want to walk you through my personal experience so you understand the real truth about gambling or sports betting and avoid making similar mistakes as I did.
A Walkthrough of My Personal Experience
I would like to share a sweet experience with all of you, but instead, mine is actually a bitter one.
How many of you here likes watching football? Well, I believe 99.99% who are reading this right now are football fans as my title has already stated “football” betting so obviously, if you are not interested in football you won’t be looking on the internet on how to make money with football betting unless you are just someone who is CRAZY about making money which led you to venture into different sports betting.
So who here agrees with me that betting on the match you are going to watch spices up your interest and eagerness to watch the entire game. That is how I actually started with betting. I am a football fan but it wasn’t interesting to just watch them play so I get involved in football betting and betted in my local betting outlet. Back then, I would just bet on $5 per match. The intention was truly, “just for the FUN of it”. If I win great, at least I made some money. If I lost, it’s OK, I only lost $5 but I enjoyed the time.
So either way, it was kind of a WIN-WIN situation for me.
BUT, things started to take a different shape over time. I don’t really know how to phrase it, but I think greediness or not accepting to take losses are few good ways to phrase. It all started when I started to lose most of my bets placed. Nobody likes losing, and that wasn’t an exception in my case. So in order to start recouping losses, I started to double my bets for the next game. This became a norm for me. But every time I bet, I still end of losing money. If I won some this week, probably within the next week or two everything will be gone.
Over time, my $5 and $10 bets have been long gone. I have lost interest in that amount and there isn’t the “kick” in it. Started to bet $50 per match and slowly as time passed by I was in a stage where I bet 800 to 1000 per game. It would be lying if I said I lost all the bets. Obviously I won games but in the end, the outcome was the SAME. What I won, I eventually have back.
Remember I mentioned about stress earlier. Yes, instead of enjoying the game, I ended up being stressed out once the games started. I wasn’t ready to lose my money. If I bet under on that match, I was worried that they will score goals. And on matches that I buy over, I was worried whether they wouldn’t score goals.
This has become a lifestyle for me. Getting stressed for every game. Even though I know the risks are high, I just couldn’t resist the temptation for betting. At this point of time, I would probably say that I was mildly addicted to betting. Every couple of hours I will start looking at the matches and odds to see what game I could buy next.
That is how my life went for a few years. I didn’t really bother what people around me were telling. Yes, people did tell me that I am going overboard and I should try to control and reduce.
Fast forward a year or two more, that was my breaking point. I don’t know how it occurred but I started realising for myself that what I was doing was wrong and STUPID. I have been indirectly killing myself from the inside. STRESS! STRESS!! STRESS!!!
By that point where I start to realise I already have spent over $200,000 in football betting. All of these is accumulated over a period of 5 years. These are the rough figures, although I still feel that I spent more than this. So where did I get the money? From my working salary, from my DAD and MOM, and also my sister’s saving. The majority was from myself and my DAD.
He was also a football fan like me, which was probably why we ended up teaming up together most times. I wouldn’t say it’s his fault because I feel that I was the instigator from the beginning. There were times that I was so desperate for money that I went to the extremes of putting some my MOM’s Jewellery on those money trading shop. Basically, they will give you an amount of money based on the weight of the Gold. And in order to take the Jewelleries back, I needed to pay interest + the full amount I took.
How I going to pay back didn’t come across to me. I was just thinking that I am going to WIN and make money so I can retrieve the jewellery quickly but I ended up losing that money too. In the end, it was my DAD who used his salary to slowly pay back.
From then onwards, I slowly cut back on betting. I know I was addicted, but I think I am stronger than that so I didn’t really need help or counselling.
So how is everything going for me now? In 2016?
Well, I am still betting but the amounts are fairly manageable. $5-$50 per game. Those $1000 betting days have been long gone. My luck and winning haven’t really changed. I am still losing more money then I am winning. Nothing frustrates me more then losing after the 85th minute. When I thought that I have one hand on my money, then comes the late goals to kill off my bets.
Even as I am writing this, I have a bit of disappointment inside me because I lost about $150 yesterday. But nevertheless, these are an amount that is totally affordable to me. It is still a great improvement for me than before. I will still try to improve and cut down on betting. But for now, I can’t just totally let it go because it has become part of my lifestyle.
So the moral of the story is, you can never make money or a living with football betting in a long run. You will eventually end up losing everything even if you are very careful. Those bet’s that are “SURE WIN” could also end up as a losing bet. So nothing is guaranteed in betting or gambling.
The only advice I can give you from my experience is…
” You can gamble in life, but don’t gamble your life!”
What am I doing in Life Now?
Like I said earlier, I am looking at life in a totally different perspective. Initially, I wanted to make full-time income simply from relying on betting but now I know that it’s never possible. In April 2015, I first ventured into online business to make a living and now, a year later I am very satisfied with my progress and outcome.
Currently, I am averaging just over $10,000 a month while my previous job only gave me $2,000 a month. I am happy that I have started this business and can work from the comfort of my own home. Just so you might want to know, I set aside $500 for a month just for betting. I don’t bet $500 on a game, at most $50 because I see it more of a pass time for me then a money making opportunity.
If you are interested to know more about how I make a full time living online, you can check out more about my #1 Recommendation below.
I hope this post has inspired you and have highlighted how things can go wrong if you are not careful with betting or gambling. Lucky I didn’t go to the extent of borrowing money from someone else but not everybody will have a smooth ride like me. So my advice to you is don’t try to make a full-time income or trying to get rich using football betting or any other type of sports betting. There are lots of risks associated and there isn’t any guarantee whether you will win.
Even an odd of $1.01 can turn against you. That’s life. Nothing is guaranteed.
Honestly, I didn’t want to write a post on this but it just came across my mind that there will be hundreds or thousands of people like this in the different parts of the world having that same approach in life like I had. I do hope you can take my experience as a learning point and move forward in a positive direction.
If you had any bad experience with football betting or any other sports betting, please feel free to share your experience with us below. I’m sure other readers can take them as a learning point too.
